Behind the Scenes: A Story of Unwavering Commitment

Making the best out of everything we do takes a lot of passion, determination and commitment to our work.

Loimar Miras, from Basay, Negros Oriental, was once a LifeBank scholar and now works for LifeBank Foundation as a Microinsurance and Loan Insurance field associate in Cebu City. His growth in LifeBank made him see so much more in life than just being an ordinary employee.

He was once a dreamer living a simple life with his parents and siblings. There were days when they struggled to make both ends meet but still managed to get through it. His father is a farmer and her mother is a member of LifeBank, which led him in becoming a LifeBank scholar that significantly helped sustain his educational expenses such as tuition and allowance.

When he graduated, LifeBank happened to be hiring, so he decided to apply. Being a scholar was a big advantage for his employment which led him back to serve his purpose. Fortunately, he met all the qualifications and got accepted for the job. Becoming an employee gave him a chance to repay the good deeds LifeBank had done for him and for his family during his studies.

Upon joining the company, he was assigned to Mandaue as a field associate. His duties is to handle branch documents and endorsements to LifeBank microinsurance partners. His responsibilities include thorough screening of documents to ensure smooth processing and facilitate the prompt disbursement of claim proceeds to members. His work with LifeBank provided him the opportunity to travel and explore various parts of the Philippines, including an assignment  in Masbate.

Beyond his administrative duties, LifeBank has empowered him to share his ideas with colleagues and conduct orientations, especially when there are new enhancements in insurance policies. He also extends this educational role to the field, explaining the importance of insurance to members and encouraging them to avail themselves of these services.

For his 7 years in the service, the most fulfilling aspect of his job has been the joy he brings to members when they receive their claim. ‘’Nakakataba ng puso’’, he added. This sense of purpose has strengthened his self confidence and positive outlook on life.  He emphasizes that LifeBank employees will work untiringly and firmly stand with the commitment in rendering quality service to all the clients. He takes pride in being an instrument of LifeBank, helping to deliver quality service to its members, which he sees as a core promise of his chosen career. Reflecting on his experience, he grew so much and saw how fulfilling working with LifeBank is by realizing “na marami pa akong oportunidad na pwede ko pang tahakin”.

He advises his fellow employees to cherish their work, viewing it as a blessing and a rare privilege not everyone gets to experience.

’Mahalin natin ang ating trabaho dahil ito ay blessing sa atin”, he says,  emphasizing the importance of valuing their jobs as a unique and once- in-a lifetime opportunity to experience.

He is profoundly grateful to LifeBank for its assistance to his family, particularly to his siblings to pursue their academic endeavors through the scholarship program. Moreover, his personal development was shaped by LifeBank, which will continue to inspire him to become the person he wants to be.
